First Parish Church
Won't you help us
restore this Ashby Landmark?
| || |
The First Parish Church of Ashby has been a community center and a town landmark since 1804. The church still has its original siding and bell cast by Paul Revere's Bronze Works. It has served Ashby as a town hall, as well as a meetinghouse, and it continues to be a center of activity. The people of Ashby came together to build it, and now we need the community's help to restore and paint the exterior.
Our small congregation is committed to preserving and restoring the old First Parish so it will maintain its prominent position on the historic Ashby Common. This summer we will begin restoring and painting the exterior. We will be taking great care in preparing the surfaces and using the latest in long-lasting paint so that we won't have to do this again for a long time.
Our congregation has dug deep into the resources of the church, committing $18,000 towards this work. But this is little more than 1/2 of what we need to complete the job.
Won't you help us make up the difference? A tax-deductible donation in any amount will further the project. Please fill out the form below and send it along with your donation towards this project. THANKS!
If you have any questions about this project, please don't hesitate to contact the project coordinator, Mark Haines. We'll be updating this page from time to time to keep you abreast of our progress.
Come visit us during the weekly Ashby Town Band Concerts, Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.
